Jorge Casillas

Jorge Casillas received the MSc and PhD (with extraordinary prize) graduate degrees in Computer Science in 1998 and 2001, respectively, from the University of Granada, Spain. He is an Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of Granada, where he is a member of the Soft Computing and Intelligent Information Systems research group. He was Visiting Research Fellow at the University of the West of England (Bristol, UK) in 2004.

He has authored a book, edited four international books, edited three international journal special issues, and organized seven special sessions in international conferences on topics such as interpretability-accuracy trade-off in fuzzy modeling, genetic fuzzy systems, genetic-based machine learning, intelligent robotics, and marketing intelligent systems. He is author of about 30 journal papers, 12 book chapters, and 60 conference papers. His h-index is 14 (ISI Web of Knowledge, December, 2012)

He serves on the Editorial Board of the Evolutionary Intelligence journal of Springer since January, 2008. He has been treasurer of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technologies (EUSFLAT) from September 2007 to July 2011, member of the board since July 2011, and coordinator of the working group on Genetic Fuzzy Systems since September 2007.

His research interests include fuzzy modeling, intelligent robotics, marketing intelligent systems, knowledge discovery, and metaheuristics.
